A lot of times families start homeschooling without defining a philosophy of education first. We remember our own school experience, and try to duplicate that. But we quickly find it doesn't work so well.
In A Literature Based Approach to Education, we teach you the ground work for why you should homeschool your child and how to do it simply, inexpensively, and enjoyably!
This live recording consists of four hour-long workshops and a Q&A discussion for the last hour. Over the course of the day, Carole Joy Seid and J. J. Seid teach you:
I. HOW TO DEVELOP YOUR OWN PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION
In this workshop, Carole Joy Seid unpacks Dr. Raymond and Dorothy Moore's emphasis on research and how that should shape your own approach to homeschooling. She covers topics like developmental readiness, differences in boys and girls, and embracing your role as the expert of your own child.
II. HOW TO MAKE YOUR CHILD A LOVER OF BOOKS
In the second workshop, J. J. Seid teaches on the value of books in education. He shares how to raise a child who loves to read and some of our very favorite books every child must read!
III. TEACHING HISTORY USING CLASSICAL LITERATURE
In the third workshop, J. J. covers history and how we believe it should be the skeleton of a child's education. He will teach you to create unit studies that guide your family through a time period and integrate many subjects into one learning experience.
IV. CREATIVE CURRICULUM
In the final workshop, Carole shares a typical homeschooling day and how to design your own curriculum simply and inexpensively. This includes recommended resources for math, science, handwriting, grammar & foreign language.
Each workshop corresponds with a book list included in the download for a total of 10 pages.
