Everything You Need to Know About History Timelines | Episode 75
We love to use history timelines as a way to help children visualize history as they learn about it.
Our literature based approach strongly emphasizes history as the core of our curriculum. We want children to have a thorough understanding of the men and women of history. As your family learns about a time period and you write it down on a timeline, you see how King David lived in the same time period as Homer.
History becomes more than dates and facts. The child’s understanding of it becomes an integrated whole.
A timeline is especially helpful for children to see the progression from one time period to another. Time is such an abstract concept. Creating history timelines help children have a more concrete understanding of time.
This episode goes into greater depth about what to expect from your kids when creating a history timeline. Carole Joy Seid shares her general approach to history, why she recommends creating history timelines with your children, and her tips and tricks to timelines.
